Variable Star Photometry

An interactive multi-screen simulation for studying variable stars through CCD photometry, built with SceneryStack, Vite 8, TypeScript 6, and Biome 2. A SceneryStack port of the NAAP Variable Star Photometry Lab.

Features

  • Four-screen workflow: Registration → Blink Comparator → Photometry → Analyzer
  • Synthetic CCD star-field images rendered pixel-by-pixel from real stellar catalogue data
  • Aperture photometry with draggable apertures and configurable sky annulus
  • Blink comparator with epoch queue, blink speed control, and crosshair overlay
  • Differential magnitude light curve plotted vs. Julian epoch or orbital phase
  • Phase Dispersion Minimization (PDM) for period finding with interactive zoom
  • Default and projector color profiles
  • English, French, and Spanish localization
  • Progressive Web App (installable, offline-capable)

Quick Start

npm install
npm run icons    # generate PNG icons from public/icons/icon.svg
npm start        # dev server → http://localhost:5173
